Synthesis of Merocyanine Days Based on Pyridinones
E-mail:
Several new H-chromophore and merocyanine systems have been synthesized, based largely on imidazo[1,2-a]pyridin-2-one systems. The 3-cyano-4-methylpyridin-2,6-dione system is a powerful electron acceptor. It is useful for preparing related donor-acceptor chromophores by combining these residues with other electron donor and acceptor moieties. The synthesis of new or modified merocyanine chromophores was undertaken with the view of investigating their visible light absorption spectral properties and assessing their potential value as functional dyes for analytical and reprographic applications.
