Apparent molar volumes and apparent molar heat capacities of aqueous D(+)-cellobiose, D(+)-maltose, and sucrose at temperatures from (278.15 to 393.15) K and at the pressure 0.35 MPa
Apparent molar volumes V-phi and apparent molar heat capacities C-p,C-phi were determined for aqueous solutions Of D(+)-cellobiose, D(+)-maltose, and sucrose at temperatures from (278.15 to 393.15) K and at the pressure 0.35 MPa. The molalities of solutions investigated ranged from (0.03 to 0.31) mol (.) kg(-1) for cellobiose, (0.03 to 0.55) mol (.) kg(-1) for maltose, and (0.01 to 4.00) mol (.) kg(-)(1) for sucrose. A vibrating tube densimeter was used to obtain densities of solutions in order to determine volumetric properties. Heat capacities were obtained directly using a twin fixed-cell, power-compensation, differential-output, temperature scanning calorimeter. Values of V-phi, and C-p,C-phi for the disaccharides are discussed relative to those of the component monosaccharides, where those data are available. (c) 2004 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
