The active creative activity of the Department of Lubricant Chemistry and Technology and Chemmotology at RSU of Oil and Gas (formerly Moscow Petroleum Institute - MPI) in creation of the theoretical principles of processing, production, and use of plastic lubricants successfully began in the first days of its establishment by N. I. Chernozhukov in 1949. Incorporation of the Laboratory of Greases, directed by the well-known specialist D. S. Velikovskii, which already existed in the Institute, in the Department, was responsible for this to a significant degree.
