Simulation of Drying Processes - An Integrated Computer-Based Approach
A modular steady-state simulator has been developed in order to model and simulate processes involved in a dehydration plant. A brief review of the simulator simulator structure, along with an outline of its operation is presented. User input to the simulator consists of the flowsheet description, specification of unit design variables and feed streams, as well as appropriate figures for economic evaluation of the plant. The information introduced is passed to the simulator by means of an appropriate user interface developed in object-oriented Pascal code on an Apple Macintosh computer. This part of the program is then introduced into the execution part of the simulator, performing all the necessary flowsheet computation. A case study is also presented for the design of a dehydration plant for vegetable drying.
