Optimization of the molar composition of the gel in the synthesis of titanium silicalite TS-2
In this paper the molar composition of the gel used for the synthesis of the titanium silicalite TS-2 using a method based on the formation of peroxytitanates, has been optimized. For this purpose, two central composite designs of experiments have been used keeping both the molar ratio TiO2/SiO2 (0.0125) and the crystallization time (68 hours) constant. The response variables chosen were the crystallinity and the relative FT-IR 960 cm(-1) band. It was observed that the most noticeable influence on both variables turned out to be the amount of template (TBAOH) present in the synthesis gel. Using the response surface methodology, a good fit between the experimental and the predicted values was obtained. The optimum composition of the synthesis gel was: TBAOH/SiO2=0.22, H2O/SiO2=38.4 and H2O2/SiO2 = 0.36. TS-2 synthesized from these optimum conditions has been used in the oxyfunctionalization reaction of n-hexane.
