A General-Method for Assessing the Thermal-Stability of Batch Chemical Reactors by Sensitivity Calculation Based on Lyapunov Exponents
The use of Lyapunov exponents to calculate the parametric sensitivity of batch reactors is described and compared with existing methods. Even though the results are quite similar the advantages of this new method reside in its simplicity and in the possibility that Lyapunov exponents can be computed from measured experimental data by reconstructing the phase space, which should allow in the future on-line sensitivity calculations in chemical plants.
