Fabrication of Polyimide Nanotubes and Carbon Nanotubes Containing Magnetic Iron Oxide In Confinement
Polyimide nanotubes with tunable wall thickness were fabricated by an amic-acid precursor impregnation method and using an AAO template. The poly(pyromellitic dianhydride-co-4,4-oxydianilne) amic acid which is soluble in organicsolvent such as NMP were selected as polyimide precursor. The wall thickness could be easily controlled by changing the precursor concentration. The polyimide nanotubes could convert into carbon nanotubes through the carbonization process. The degree of graphitization exhibited high value at relatively low carbon ization temperature due to aromatic composition of polyimide. In addition, carbon nanotubes containing magnetic iron oxide were obtained through carbonizing the ferric chloride-embedded polyimide precursor.
