Modeling of turbulent atomization combining a two-fluid and a structure function approach
The aim of the project described here is the numerical calculation of the tubulent atomization of liquids. For this, a combined model will be used. The flow inside the nozzle and in the dense spray region is predicted with a two-fluid model. The dilute spray region will he calculated using an Euler-Lagrange approach. The required inlet data will be obtained from the two-fluid calculations, namely, gas and liquid velocities as well as the droplet concentration. Additionally, the droplet size distribution has to be predicted. The model used for the calculation of the drop size distribution is introduced and the results are compared to various experimental data.
