A Model for Highly Para-Selective Reactions in HZSM-5 Zeolite Catalyst
A theoretical model incorporating diffusion and reaction which takes place via the adsorbed state is proposed for highly p-xylene selective catalysts. Based upon the measured values of diffusivities, adsorption equilibrium constants and reaction rate constants, the modified model is used to explain and predict the high para-selectivities in toluene disproportionation and xylene isomerization. The agreement between theory and experiment is good.
