Low-Temperature NO Removal by Addition of NH3 Between Oxidation and Reduction Catalysts
E-mail:
Different combinations of two catalysts, 1 wt% Pt/r-Al2O3 and 20 wt% CuO/r-Al2O3, were tested for low-temperature NO reduction with NH3. The physical mixture of the two catalysts or the co-impregnated catalyst resulted in lower NOx conversions than did the use of a single catalyst. However, NOx conversions at low temperature increased when the wo-stage system of two catalysts was applied, especially for Pt/r-Al2O3 and CuO/r-Al2O3 in series. The separated system for (NO) oxidation with O2 over Pt/r-Al2O3 and reduction with NH3, fed after oxidation, over CuO/r-Al2O3 provided the highest NOx conversions at low temperature. In this system, the NOx conversion was affected by the concentration of NO2 in NOx, which was dependent on the reaction temperature in the oxidation step.
