Direct Bio-ethanol Steam Reforming System in Molten Carbonate Fuel Cell
An integrated catalyst-coated anode for MCFC single cell, which is easy to manufacture and performs high voltage and good stability, was developed. It showed competitive performance even though it was supplied with bio-ethanol in comparison to reformate gas. By simple coating the catalyst on one-side of the anode, high initial performance of molten carbonate fuel cell could be achieved. Ethanol steam reforming occurred on the catalyst layer while electrochemical reaction did on the anode electrode. This modified anode showed good stability without decrease in performance for 100 hours operation.
