Liquid-phase adsorption of binary mixtures of alkanes
The isotherms of excess adsorption of mixtures of n-octane and n-hexadecane and isooctane and n-hexadecane on different adsorbents -activated carbons TA 120 and TA 95, silica gel, and zeolite 5A - were determined. The expediency of using zeolite 5A for separation of n-alkanes was established. The excess adsorption of the components was quantitatively described with T. Kind's equation. The constants in this equation were determined with the experimental data obtained on zeolite 5A. The adequacy of the equation was demonstrated by comparing the calculated and experimental data and with Fisher's criterion.
