Nanostructuring in composites and grossly nonstoichiometric or heavily doped oxides
A remarkable feature of nanostructured systems is a large number of interfaces, which have a strong impact on thermodynamic, structural and transport characteristic of materials. According to the types of stacking, nano-objects can be classified into natiocomposites with incoherent interfaces and nanodomain textured systems with coherent domain boundaries. High density of interfaces with excess energy stabilizes high-temperature disordered phases with high ion conductivity, provides high diffusivity paths for ion transport, which might open strategies to develop new ion-conducting materials operating at moderate temperature.
