Synthesis and electrochemical behavior of Ce1-xFexO2-delta as a possible SOFC anode materials
A new family of doped cerias with formula Ce1-xFexO2-delta (x=0.1, 0.2) have been investigated as anode material for SOFCs. Ce1-xFexO2-delta was synthesized by the citrate method. The electrochemical behavior of anode was analyzed by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Ce1-xFexO2-delta (x=0.1, 0.2) exhibit high activities for the electrochemical oxidation of hydrogen in the temperature range 550-700 degrees C. The polarization resistance decreases with increasing Fe content while the lower polarization resistances appear in humidified H-2 than in dry H-2. The polarization resistances of Ce0.9Fe0.1O2-delta (FDC10) and Ce0.8Fe0.2O2-delta (FDC20) show 0.975 Omega cm(2) and 0.577 Omega cm(2) in humidified H-2 at 700 degrees C, respectively. These results suggest that Ce1-xFexO2-delta is a promising candidate for IT-SOFC anode material. (c) 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
