A method has been developed for the determination of nimesulide in bulk and dosage form. Acidic hydrolyzed product of nimesulide solution was coupled with phenol in the presense of nitrite solution on boiling water bath. The resulting dye was measrued spectrophotometrically at 475 nm. The range of linearity was 5 to 25 ppm. The developed method was applied to the determination of nimesulide in various dosage forms. The results were found in close agreement with label quantity.
