The formation of complexes between MnBr2 and 2,2-bipyridine in variable ratio occurs in DMF solutions. The manganese(II) complexes undergo stepwise quasi-reversible reductions. Two complexes, [MnBr2(bipy)] and [MnBr2(bipy)(2)], are prepared and their electrochemical behavior are presented and discussed. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
