White light emission from a single layer organic light emitting diode fabricated by spincoating
We report on white light emission from an organic light, emitting diode (OLED) prepared by spin coating. The organic layer is a single layer of polystyrene, in which we incorporate rubrene for orange emission and the phenylene-vinylene trimer, 1,4-bis(1,1-diphenyl-2-ethenyl) benzene (PEB) for blue emission. These two colors blend to white. The Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage coordinates are x = 0.30 and y = 0.37. When fabricated with an air-stable Al cathode, our white OLED has a quantum efficiency of 0.3%, a current efficiency of 0.9 cd/A and a brightness of 1500 cd/m(2).
