Photodissociation of s-triazine at 248 and 193 nm: rotational energy of the HCN fragments
Photodissociation dynamics of s-triazine in UV has been investigated by probing the HCN fragments using coherent antistokes Raman scattering (CARS) spectroscopy. The CARS spectra of the nu (3) band of HCN have been measured. From the Q-branch transitions in the spectra, the average rotational energies of the fragments have been found to be 2.1 +/- 0.18 and 2.7 +/- 0.30 kcal/mol when s-triazine is photolyzed at 248 and 193 nm, respectively. Together with the previously measured translational energies by other investigators, the dissociation dynamics has been discussed.
