Quantum beats in electric field optical activity and parity non-conservation
Measurements of parity violations in chiral molecules are briefly discussed. In particular, two earlier suggestions of how dynamics in a double well are modified or created by parity violations are examined. Those suggested experiments always measure the parity violation parameter squared for short times. In this Letter, we show that electric field optical activity provides a third way of measuring dynamics created by parity violations. For short times electric field optical activity is linear in the parity violating parameter. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
