Soluble, single walled carbon nanotubes containing n-pentyl esters at the tips have been obtained and their photochemistry studied by means of photoluminescence and laser flash photolysis, the data being compatible with the occurrence of photoinduced charge separation; in addition generation of photocurrent upon illumination has been observed.
