Spectrophotometric and thermodynamic studies of complexation of [60]fullerene with a series of anisoles: a rational approach towards charge transfer interaction
A detailed spectrophotometric and thermodynamic studies have been carried out to look insight into the nature of molecular interactions of the electron donor-acceptor complexes of [60]fullerene with a series of anisoles, e.g., anisole, m-bromoanisole and p-bromoanisole. An absorption band due to charge transfer (CT) transition is observed in the visible region. A new theoretical model has been developed which takes into account the interaction between electronic subsystems of [60]fullerene and anisoles. Formation constants of the complexes were determined at four different temperatures from which enthalpies and entropies of formation of the complexes were estimated. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V.
