Evidence for electric field dependent dissociation of exciplexes in electron donor-acceptor organic solid films
Electric field effect on time-resolved exciplex luminescence has been examined in electron donor-acceptor organic solid films of undoped and an organic phosphor (PtLCl)-Cl-2-doped (m-MTDATA:BPT:PC) blends. The applied field leads to a decrease of the initial amplitude and luminescence lifetimes for both singlet and triplet exciplex underlain emission. The largest reduction (up to 50%) of the lifetime has been observed for the triplet exciplex emission and the effect interpreted in terms of the exciplex dissociation into electron-hole pairs driven by hopping separation of such generated charge carriers.
