O-Pentafluorobenzoyloxime having (cyclohexadiene)Fe(CO)(3) moiety cyclizes to give trans-fused dihydroindole derivative. This C-N bond formation proceeds by radical chain mechanism initiated by molecular oxygen. Thus formed trans-fused dihydroindoles easily isomerize to the cis-fused isomers on acidic silica gel.
