The first lower-rim full O-pyridyl and O-quinolyl ether derivatives of calix[4]arene and p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene in 1,3-alternate conformation have been synthesized using cesium carbonate as a promoter at high reaction temperature and their structures and conformations were characterized by H-1 NMR spectra and X-ray crystallography.
