One new naphthoquinone, (4R)-4,9-dihydroxy-8-methoxy-alpha-lapachone (1), and two new iridoids, 7a-hydroxygelsemiol (2) and 6-methoxysemperoside (3) were isolated from Verbena littoralis H. B. K. 1 (3-30 muM) and 2 (3 muM) showed a markedly enhancing activity of nerve growth factor (NGF)-mediated neurite outgrowth from PC12D cells.
