Hydrative dimerization and hydration of allenes proceeded in the presence of a ruthenium catalyst and a strong acid such as trifluoroacetic acid. gamma,delta-Unsaturated ketones and methyl ketones were isolated in moderate combined yields. No isomeric compound (isomeric enone) was isolated.
