Corallinafuran and corallinaether, novel toxic compounds from crustose coralline red algae
Two new brominated toxic compounds, corallinafuran (1) and corallinaether (2), have been isolated from crustose coralline red algae (CCA). Their structures were elucidated based on a detailed analysis of spectral data. Compounds 1 and 2 showed toxicity against larvae of the scleractinian coral Pseudosiderastrea tayamai, with LD99 values of 1.9 and 0. 14 mu g/mL, respectively.
