EXTRACTION OF PETROLEUM-CONTAMINATED SOILS WITH LIQUID CARBON-DIOXIDE
A pressure equipment with liquid carbon dioxide as a solvent was used to separate hydrocarbons (mineral oil, Diesel oil) from different soils. The yield of the extraction decreases from the system sand/Diesel oil about the systems humic material/Diesel oil and sand/mineral oil to the system humic material/mineral oil. In the same order the extraction time increases. The extraction with liquid carbon dioxide is a comparatively cheap and up to now a scarcely noticed method for the isolation of hydrocarbons from petroleum-contaminated soils.
