Material recycling of used plastics will gain increasing importance. Reprocessing of PVC is complicated by its thermals sensivity and the different composition of PVC products. This paper presents an analysis program for characterizing used PVC products. The authors suggest a post-stabilization of PVC compounds by adding chalk; the effect on the thermal stability and the mechanical properties of various PVC waste materials were studied in detail.
