Zirconium(IV) benzyl complexes that contain chelating diamido ligands: synthesis, fluxionality and ethylene polymerization activity
The synthesis of chelating diamidodibenzyl complexes of the type Zr(ABA(n))(CH2Ph)(2) [ABA(1) = N, N'-bis(trimethylsilyl)-2-amidobenzylamido (1), ABA(2) = N, N-(methyldiphenylsilyl)(trimethylsilyl)-2-ainidobenzylamido(2)] is described. The fluxionality of these complexes in solution has been studied by means of variable-temperature NMR. In the presence of one equivalent of a suitable alkyl abstractor, these compounds proved to behave as moderately active ethylene polymerization catalysts. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V.
