Simulation of liquid velocity field in a gas-liquid bubble column
A simplified turbulent model and a modified k- epsilon two equation model are proposed to describe the liquid velocity profiles in a bubble column taking into consideration of the effect of gas drag force and gas hold-up. In the simplified model the Reynolds equation of motion was adopted and the turbulent viscosity was calculated from an empirical correlation which was deduced from our experimental data. The calculated liquid velocity profiles were compared between the proposed model and the standard k-epsilon two equation model as well as experimental data. The result shows that the proposed model simulates and predicts the liquid velocity held most satisfactorily and in good. agreement with the experimental measurement.
