Reactions of sulfur mustard with active components of decontaminants ORO and C9 (Polish abbreviations of organic decontaminating solutions) were studied and their products were identified by GC/AED. Quantitative determinations of individual products in the reaction mixtures allowed to evaluate the kinetic parameters of the mustard reactions. The major decontamination product was divinyl sulfide, the product of the elimination reaction. At certain proportions of mustard to the decontaminant's active component, substitution products were also formed. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V All rights reserved.
