FT-IR studies of N-hexadecyl-5-iminomethyl-8-hydroxyquinoline Langmuir-Blodgett films
Molecular orientation and order-disorder transition of Langmuir-Blodgett films of a novel amphiphile, N-Hexadecyl-5-iminomethyl-8-Hydroxyquinoline (HIHQ), were studied via FT-IR spectra measurements. Different spectral features were observed of HIHQ in solid state, cast films and LB films. In the LB films of HIHQ, the interaction between the first monolayer and the substrate is very weak and LB films display a very uniform property from layer to layer. FT-IR transmission spectra of HIHQ LB Alms measured at different temperature show that the order-disorder transition occurs in the temperature range of 50-70 degrees C.
