We report the results of a modified embedded atom method (MEAM) study of the high pressure phase diagram of silicon especially for the bc8, face-centred cubic (fcc), body-centred cubic (bcc) and simple cubic (sc) phases. Our results are in good agreement with the available experimental data and the first principles theoretical studies. (C) 2002 Published by Elsevier Science B.V.
