Dielectric properties of titanate based ceramic capacitors using electroless Ni as contact electrodes
The electroless plating Ni was uniformly coated on the ceramic capacitors based on BaTiO3, SrTiO3, CaTiO3, PbTiO3, Bi2/3TiO3, etc. as the contact electrodes of these ceramic capacitors. Their structural and electrical properties were characterized using XRD, SEM, and impedance analyser, respectively. Results indicated that the Ni electroded capacitors had larger dielectric capacitances, smaller loss tangents, and higher breakdown voltages than Ag electroded counterparts. Through introducing complex agents in the electroless solution and cleaning process after sensitization and activation procedures, the negative effect of Bi3+ ions on the surface resistance of the Ni coating was effectively eliminated, and good Ni coatings were obtained.
