Pattern formation in the crystallization of ascorbic acid
It is well known that ascorbic acid exhibits various patterns when it crystallizes from its methanol solution. In this article, we present an experimental and a theoretical Study of the pattern formation, especially concentrating on the formation of concentric rings caused by the oscillatory crystallization. The void-fluid interaction will be proposed as a mechanism which will be responsible for the oscillation. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
