Growth of La2CaB10O19 single crystals from CaO-Li2O-B2O3 flux
A new flux system, CaO-Li2O-B2O3, has been applied to growing La2CaB10O19 single crystals. Transparent crystals of La2CaB10O19 with a typical size of 30 x 25 x 9 mm(3) have been successfully grown from the new flux. The advantages of the new flux system, in terms of lower growth temperature and reduced incorporation of flux inclusions, are discussed in comparison with the previously utilized CaO center dot 2B(2)O(3) self-flux.
