We report the crystal growth of vanadate Ni3V2O8. Transparent single crystals with good quality have been successfully grown by spontaneous nucleation using a mixture of SrCO3 and V2O5 as flux. Magnetic and heat capacity measurements show that the grown crystals exhibit interesting magnetic behaviors which are consistent with those reported previously. (c) 2006 Elsevier B.V.
