A General Formulation for the Synthesis of Combined Heat and Power-Systems with Minimum Annual Cost
A new methodology for the synthesis of combined heat and power systems has been developed which considers minimizing the annual capital and operating cost. The formulation of the objective function is independent on the number and properties of utilities, equipment units and energy types. Therefore a flexible superstructure has been developed that does not restrict the general problem. The algorithm is applicable to both discontinuous and continuous production processes.
