CLUSTER FORMATION DURING DESORPTION OF MULTILAYERS OF FATTY-ACID SALTS
The thermo desorption mechanism of Cd-arachidate Langmuir-Blodgett films has been shown to involve the lateral rupture of the film to give droplets (see Figure). On further heating, these droplets lose the aliphatic molecular part resulting in a uniform lateral distribution of three-dimensional inorganic clusters on the substrate surface.
