DISORDERED STRIPE DOMAIN PHASES IN 2 DIMENSIONS - LABYRINTHS AND STRIPE LIQUIDS IN MAGNETIC AND ORGANIC THIN-FILMS
Research News: Amphiphilic "Langmuir" monolayers. thin layers of type-I superconductors. ferromagnetic colloids (ferrofluids), and ferroelectrics are just some of the materials in which domains are known to form. The formation of the domain patterns, such as the labyrinthine stripe domain in a ferrimagnetic garnet film (see figure), and their evolution in response to changing experimental parameters are discussed.
