CALCITE CRYSTALLIZATION ON GELATIN FILMS CONTAINING POLYELECTROLYTES
The promotion of oriented calcite crystallization by various polyelectrolytes, in particular their relative efficiency, has been investigated. Gelatin containing polyelectrolytes was found to overcome the compatibility problem between an inert matrix and the water-soluble polyelectrolytes associated with biomineralization (the Figure shows calcite crystals grown on such a substrate).
