New, synthetically accessible, soluble, stable all-carbon-backbone polymers are reported. The polytriacetylenes (see Fig.) represent an intermediate step between polydiacetylenes and carbyne and as such are of interest as alternatives for known conjugated polymers. The synthesis, film casting, and interesting properties are discussed.
