The interests of the materials community in the US are represented by the Federation of Materials Societies (FMS), an umbrella organization that particularly concerned with the exchange of information between the policy making community and the materials community. The FMS's structure, aims, publications and activities, such as workshops and conferences, are briefly outlined and its technology policy recommendations described in more detail.
