WAVELENGTH DEPENDENCE IN LASER FLOATING-ZONE PROCESSING - A CASE-STUDY WITH BI-SR-CA-CU-O SUPERCONDUCTORS
Laser floating zone processing methods are particularly suitable for studying crystal growth and the development of texture from the melt in many materials used in electrooptics, for example. A system is described that allows different laser wave lengths to be used, and first results on BSCCO superconducting fibers processed using different lasers are presented. The Figure compares textures produced using Nd:YAG and CO2 lasers.
