Temperature dependence of the electroluminescent characteristics of light-emitting diodes made from poly(methylphenylsilane)
Polysilanes-Si-based sigma-conjugated polymers-have electronic structures markedly different from those of pi-conjugated polymers. The temperature dependence of the electroluminescent properties of single-layer LEDs made from poly(methylphenylsilane) is reported and it is demonstrated that these LEDs can be used as light sources in the near UV region. Observation of electroluminescence from one of the most typical polysilanes is encouraging as it indicates that there is potential for further improvements.
