Solid-state amplified spontaneous emission in some spiro-type molecules: A new concept for the design of solid-state lasing molecules
Communication: Spectral narrowing in amorphous molecular solid films of spiro-type molecules such as spiro-quarterphenyl (see Figure) is reported. It is demonstrated that introduction of the spiro linkage not only improves the processability and morphological properties but, for the molecules studied here, also suppresses concentration quenching, making these molecular solids attractive candidates for molecular solid-state lasers.
