Conclusive demonstration of the ferromagnetic nature of the interaction between holmium(III) and aminoxyl radicals
Communication: Metal-organo magnetic interactions involving lanthanides have become important in the search for molecular magnetic materials. Here is reported the synthesis of a holmium(III)-nitronyl oxide compound (see Figure). The temperature dependence of its magnetic susceptibility reveals that it has a ferromagnetic ground state, which verifies theoretical predictions.
