Comparison between dynamic behaviour of a batch packed and plate column
The object of this study is to compare the dynamic behaviour of a plate with a packed column. A dynamic mathematical model has been developed for a packed distillation column. This model has been applied for a batch system to fractionate the BTX (Benzene, Toluene, Xylenes) mixture. The calculations have been repeated for the same system with a plate distillation column. Finally, the dynamic simulation results of two types of columns are compared. Numerical simulations have been done by "SPEEDUP", which is an equation-oriented software package to solve differential-algebraic equations sets.
