Superconductivity in an organic conductor stabilized by a high magnetic field
lambda-(BETS)(2)FeCl4 is paramagnetic in the metallic phase (BETS = bis(ethylene-dithio)tetraselenafulvalene), thus indicate the results discussed in this research news. A field-induced superconductivity, which may be explained by the J-P effect, has been found to exist in this material. The research conducted shows that the 2D superconducting state can survive up to a very high field as long as the field is parallel to the conduction layer. lambda-(BETS)(2)FeCl4 is herewith the first material whose superconducting state is stabilized only under a magnetic field.
